3. Tell your friends and family! Suggest us on Twitter and Facebook. The more people in our network, the more we can help.

Getting started is easy! For members with a Twitter account, simply search and follow us. Then be sure you do the following:

1. Search and find beremedy. Click to follow us.  

2. To receive out Tweets on your phone, go to "devices", and set up your mobile device.

3. Turn device updates on for our accounts. (We promise not to bombard you. Having device updates is crucial for meeting needs quickly and efficiently. We will only Tweet needs and necessary updates.)

If you don’t have Twitter, go to www.Twitter.com and sign up for a new account. It is quick and easy. Be sure to follow the same steps as above so you’ll receive our updates. Now that you're signed up, use the "Tweets" tab on the left to get involved. Share us with your followers!

Every city has needs. Often these needs go unmet because the message doesn't get out. There are others who want to help, but don't know how. beremedy is a non-profit organization using social media to connect those in need with those in their community who can help.

Via Twitter and Facebook, we relay messages of need efficiently and receive responses instantaneously! Help is in the hands so much faster than traditional methods. Imagine a world where helping others happens at the speed of social media!

What is beremedy?

beremedy is a non-profit organization connecting people who need help with those who want to give it via social media. We feel that most people would help if they simply knew the needs in their local community. Through applications like Twitter and Facebook, beremedy alerts people when someone in their community needs help. Members then respond to the message or pass on the message to those they feel can.

What is social media?

Social media is every place you are already. Twitter, Facebook, and Linked In are all examples of applications we all use every day. We simply take this medium and transform it into a network of socially responsible individuals willing to help others through tough times.

How does beremedy utilize social media?

beremedy receives requests for aid from local non-profits, schools, and other reputable organizations. These requests have already been screened and verified for validity. beremedy transforms this request into a Tweet and sends it to the community geographically closest to the person in need of help. Members reply if they can help. If they can’t, they simply ignore the request and wait for the next opportunity.

How It Works

Reputable agencies contact us with requests. They come in a variety of forms from household items and clothing to gift cards and groceries. Recipients generally include underprivileged individuals, victims of natural disasters, or even families who have fallen on hard times. We send out a Tweet to our members and if someone can meet the need or knows an individual that can, they DM or @reply back. We arrange for the referring agency to pick-up and transport the items to the recipient. Basically, we figure out how to connect the need with the remedy, you!

For Example:

A local organization notifies us of a single mom whose refrigerator isn’t functioning and can’t afford to purchase new one. We Tweet something like, “We have a single mom in need of refrigerator asap. If you can help, please reply.” Five thousand local individuals instantly receive the message. One of our network members, a dad who just finished remodeling his kitchen, gets the instant message or Tweet. He happens to have his old, perfectly functioning refrigerator sitting in the garage. He replies to beremedy that he would like to help. We then notify the organization that generated the request and arrange for pickup and delivery.
