One of the many perks of making a move from living in a hotel versus an apartment is the ability to cook for you sons in your own kitchen. Being a single mother is hard, but cooking for your children with no kitchen items such as dishes, pots/pans, cutlery may prove itself to be even harder. When coming home from a high stress, low paying job, chopping up dinner for your kids can be rewarding for both you and the boys. NEW NEED | Mechanical Pencils for Middle School

  If you can remember back to the days you were in middle school, you might remember your first pimple, awkward first dances, or your amazing choice of clothes.  You also might remember how much those mean teachers made you write! It seemed like you had to write copy encyclopedias of information every hour.  Well, those times haven't changed much.  Writing those paragraphs of information helped you remember important lessons you still use today.

A local middle school has many students who come from low income families and don't have pencils.  Budget cuts at the school has teachers coming out of their own pocket for many of the larger school supplies needed. They have reached out to us to be the remedy for just pencils.  So let's load them up with some!

SUCESS | Volunteers for Health Day 

 

The temperatures are cooling off and we hope everyone is enjoying this fall weather. It’s a great time to get outside. That bring us to our next need. For a change of pace we aren’t asking for an item donation, rather a little of your time this coming Sunday, Sept 16 (people for any time of day 10am -5pm) for Health Day. Health Day is one unique opportunity to serve the city of Atlanta! It is a day where the homeless of our city are invited out to get medical assistance, clothing, job training, and food. It’s a fun, one stop event for those most in need. It started in 2007 by Lazarus Ministries and has grown to include Atlanta Mission, Trinity Angelic Missions, Wesleyan School and SafeHouse Outreach.

Here’s where you have an opportunity to be the remedy. 500 volunteers are needed to serve the 1000 homeless expected to attend. Hundreds have signed up but we need more to fill in a few areas.

• Serve food
• Setup / tear down
• Security (which involves dudes walking around in neon vests)
• Clean up

SUCCESS | Dryer was donated in 15 min. Thanks to @driabnav for being the remedy! 

 

  After duct taping pieces together and doing every "home remedy" known to man, this family's dryer is almost unrecognizable.  Unfortunately, this soldier of a dryer has finally seen its last day.  The day something like this happens, it can put a sudden hard financial strain on your family.  That's exactly what's happening with this family who has worked so hard.  Here is your chance to be the remedy.  Someone has a dryer in great working condition just sitting around somewhere or knows someone who does. Lets spread this story as quick as we can until we have a remedy. Ready, set go...

It's back to school time!  The new school year is always exciting, and for all students, being prepared for classes is the first step to a successful year!

Speaking of students, beremedy loves to help them! Here's a chance to help 10 local, North Atlanta students, that don't have a way to carry their school supplies daily. These particular student's school social workers have asked beremedy to help find drawstring backpacks for them, at this time. This particular school only allows drawstring back packs, so that's exactly what beremedy wants to ask of our giving community to help with.

SUCCESS | Atlanta: 101 Suits Donated in 2 days

In 2 days beremedy collected 101 suits for Atlanta Mission! Here's why this number is huge.. because this will provide suits for the men who graduate their program for the next 6 months.  That's half a years worth of graduates being dressed for success.  This is truly worth celebrating.  

Now, if you were paying close attention, you saw 500 suits being mentioned. This is the number of people they will help put back to work this year.  So do we need more suits? Of course, and here is how you continue to donate..

We are taking on our biggest campaign yet and it's going to be done in the most exciting way possible!  After all, we strive to create fun new ways to help others.  We've teamed up with the southeast's largest homeless organization, Atlanta Mission, to race a car in the RedBull Soapbox Race.  The monumental event is Saturday June 9th from 12-3 pm. If you have gently used suit, we'd love for you to donate it to Atlanta Mission with the goal of helping homeless men obtain a job. Last year Atlanta Mission put over 500 people back to work and these will be used to clothe this year's men for job interviews. 

Need:  Gently Used or New Suits 
Donate: Friday June 8th, 8 -10pm @ No Mas Cantina (Remedy Party, invite friends)
Donate: Saturday June 9th, 10am - 12pm @ RedBull Soapbox Derby (find "team beremedy's" pit)
