We are not quite ready to go national yet, but we are getting closer. Stories like this make us even more eager to reach this goal. Mom*tog & Photo Card Boutique recently contacted us and wanted to use their photography network “to do something BIG”, specifically help people directly affected by the recent tornadoes throughout the south. They put together an amazing giveaway (read their writeup here) with a flat $10 entry fee. They were able to raise $3,600!
Chance Craven, the founder of Disaster Relief, contacted beremedy with Nathan's story. Nathan was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and is a single dad of four. He and his children lost their vehicle, home, and possessions in the tornado. One thing they didn't lose...their strength. They immediately started rebuilding and amazed us all with their dedication to reestablishing a home.

Thanks to Mom*tog's generous donation, Disaster Relief was able to help this resolute family. They split the family into three groups and took them shopping! It was quite a sight to behold. Here's what they were able to provide for the family:
Group 1 - The Daughters
They each received new bedding, new clothes, and each bought a movie to watch with the family.
Group 2 - The son
He got an entire new wardrobe including shirts, pants, underwear, the whole nine yards! He was still wearing a pair of his dad's boots because he'd lost every stitch of clothing in the tornado. So we bought him a new pair of shoes too.

Group 3 - The Father
He received a brand new computer to continue his online schooling. He wouldn't tell us anything that he needed. So we listened real carefully and figured it out on our own. One thing kept coming up- the tornado would disrupt his online schooling after he'd invested so much time and money. We knew this was where he needed help and purchased him a new laptop so that he could continue his education. He also received $300 in Lowe's gift cards which he recently used to purchase a circular saw, paint, and some other basics essentials to continue fixing the home for he and his children.
The Family
They received kitchen utensils, mattresses and box springs, and we paid their first two months of payments on their new car. We also purchased groceries to fill their refrigerator.
We'd love to thank a number of other organizations who partnered to make all this possible:
Ignite Church from Joplin, MO
Crosspoint Church from Nashville, TN
beremedy would like to extend a big thanks to everyone for being the remedy to this family by donating towards this cause. Here are pictures of Nathan and his family with the organizations who joined to help throughout the process.
