March 21st - March 30th in Forsyth County
Could you imagine your child leaving school on Friday and not eating for the whole weekend? That is a reality for students in the state of Georgia every weekend. With spring break approaching, the issue is multiplied. We are partnering with the Forsyth County School System to make sure these students have food for the break. We are looking to pack book bags full of food to give to these students in our Second Annual "Bookbag Challenge." This opens the door for you to be a remedy!
We are asking you to donate non-perishable food items to help fill a bag so these students can eat for the upcoming weekend (and hopefully even longer!) .

Stories of hope is what it's all about. A 20 year old getting clean and putting his life back together decided to return home. As a mother would, she welcomed her son home. The only problem, there is only one bed in a single mother’s home and as a mother would... she gave the bed to her son. After 2 days, the son gave his mother her bed and began to sleep on the floor himself. The organization that submitted this need believes there should be one more bed in this home and so do we! Here is your chance to be the remedy for this reunited family! Just to be clear, here is what is needed:

NEW NEED: Size 7 Women's Birkenstock Sandals
Let's mix things up a little! Here's a need for something that hasn't been requested before. One of the social workers in a North Atlanta school system has requested this specific kind of sandal for a female student with foot abnormalities that require this kind of shoe. Her doctor has encouraged her to get this particular brand as the openness of the toe and the form of the sole. This student has faced great poverty and adversity throughout her life and is determined to graduate from high school despite her hardships. She is unable to purchase these for herself but is in great need. Let's help her out!

For some reason, around the holidays there's an influx of house fires. We can't imagine what it's like to lose every tangible part of the place you call home but we try to empathize with those that know what it's like. Daphany and her daughter have recently experienced this feeling of loss. What's great is that they've been surrounded by their community of friends and family for support but are still in need of a few things. They've been given two queen-sized bed frames but no mattresses or box springs. Let's give them a place to sleep! Just so we're clear, here's what we need:
If you've got a sofa or kitchen table and chairs you'd like to get rid of, they need those too.
This need was met in just a few days above and beyond what we needed! We actually had to turn away some donors! We hate to do that but it's a great problem to have. Thanks so much to those who helped and were willing to give! This need has been remedied!
Have you always had a bed to sleep in? If you haven't, you can relate to a family with no beds, right? If you HAVE always had a soft place to lay your weary head, it's difficult to imagine life without it, isn't it? Imagine THIS: Your WHOLE house gets burned down, the people in your community come to your aid and you finally have a roof over your head. Amazing. Just one catch, you have no beds. You're a single mom with 6 children and no beds. That sounds like a rough situation in itself. There's a family that fits this description living on the south side of Atlanta. We really want to get them some beds. All we need now is 1 set of bunk beds!
Below is what we needed initially. Everything has been donated except for one more set of bunk beds! How awesome is that?
